Blog dedicated to Junior, a Colombian Tripawd

Junior adopted me

About a year ago my family had gone through a somewhat traumatic experience with our dog and because of this it was not in our short term plans to have another dog as part of our family.

However, on Thursday, May 11, a friend was arriving at his house, when a small bundle on a sidewalk caught his eye. When he could see better, he found that the small bundle was a puppy, apparently a Labrador. It was raining heavily so the puppy was bogged down, wet and shivering with cold; In addition, apparently had suffered an accident, because his leg was in very bad condition.

He immediately took the puppy to a vet; There, seeing that it was a street dog, they did not want to attend, on the contrary, they told him that it was best to leave him in the street and to call some foundation to take care of him. But who can have the heart to throw a helpless little creature into the street?

That first day a friend gave him roof and food. We soon realized that, despite the state of his leg, this did not hurt. Since it was Friday my friend, my boyfriend and I took the puppy to the veterinarian and told us that we should take x-rays.

Early Saturday, we went to have the X-rays and then I decided to stay with the puppy the rest of the day to take him to my house so that my family could get to know him. That night I would return him to my friend’s house who was taking care of him while we found him a definitive home. But when my parents and my brothers met him, the plans changed: from that Saturday Junior was part of my family and will continue to be for the rest of his life. He gave us the opportunity to be happy again and gave us the privilege of being at our side.

    Rough translation –

About a year ago, our family went through a traumatic experience with our dog, and our short term plans did not include adding another dog to our family.

On Thursday, May 11, when a friend was arriving at his home, when a small bundle on the sidewalk caught his attention. When he could see better, he saw that the small bundle was a puppy, apparently a Labrador. It was raining heavily so the puppy was wet and shivering with cold. It has also been in an accident, because its leg was in very bad condition.

He took the puppy to a vet. On seeing that it was a street dog, the vet did not want to provide care, and told him that it would be better to leave the puppy on the street and call some charity to take care of him. Who could have the heart to throw a helpless little creature on the street?

That first night, my friend gave the puppy shelter and food. We soon realized that, despite the condition of his leg, he was not in pain. It was Friday, so my friend, my boyfriend and I took the puppy to the vet, who told us that we should take x-rays.

Early Saturday, we got the X-rays. I decided to stay with the puppy the rest of the day and take him to my house so that my family could meet him. At night, I planned on returning him to my friend’s house, who would take care of him while we looked for a permanent home. But once my parents and my brothers got to know him, the plans changed. From that Saturday, Junior became part of my family and will continue to be so for the rest of his life. He gave us the opportunity to be happy again and gave us the privilege of being by our side.
